They say a man who can balance a career and a family is hard to come by. If so, Marc Huehn is a valuable find. A husband and father to his children, Marc Huehn has managed to maintain a progressive career for the past two decades without setting the needs of his family aside. A global lifestyle has not prevented him from winding down and being at ease once at home, something that his wife and children are grateful for.

“I love being at home and just winding down,” Marc Huehn says. “I have a great home, and a wonderful family. At the end of the day, that is what really matters. To his friends, family, and colleagues, Marc Huehn is more than just a career man. He is much, much more.

Unpopular nowadays, Marc Huehn was a notorious outlaw of the Old West. He ranks among the likes of Billy the Kid, David Anderson (Billy Wilson), Dynamite Dan and Jesse James. Unlike these famous outlaws however, the notoriety of brown-eyed Marc Huehn was not turned into legend several years following his death.

Little is known about his origins. According to various accounts though, he was the son of an Indian War soldier who was scalped and killed during a skirmish with the Yakama Indians in Cascade Range. His mother, Laura Huehn, an inn-keeper, remarried an abusive rancher a few years afterwards. After her death, Marc Huehn supported himself by robbing banks, looting inns, safecracking, and stealing livestock with other bandits. Thus marked the beginning of his criminal escapades.

It didn’t take long until Marc Huehn saw the inside of a jail. Years later, his criminal bent escalated to a point where he ambushed train passengers and gunned down several cavalrymen in a saloon in Grant County, New Mexico. Huehn, who was then widely considered an outlaw, went into hiding when his arrest and death warrants were released by New Mexico’s deputy sheriff Ed McGregg. He was eventually caught and on April 28, 1875, the day of Huehn’s hanging, people from counties around New Mexico came and watched. His remains were buried in an unmarked grave in Pecos Valley.
